Armenia & Russia

This 16-day tour highlights Russia's beautiful city of St. Petersburg, "Venice of the North", known for its palaces, monuments and bridges and Russia's robust capital city of Moscow, with its historic Kremlin and Red Square.

The tour continues to Armenia, where you will stay in the capital city of Yerevan and take daily excursions to key historic, religious and cultural sites in Armenia.

DAY 1 DEPART U.S.A.
Overnight transatlantic flight.
DAY 2 ARRIVE TO ST. PETERSBURG
Take a connecting flight from Paris for an evening arrival into St. Petersburg. Check-in to the Petro Palace Hotel.
DAY 3 ST. PETERSBURG CITY TOUR
Visit Peter and Paul Fortress, the oldest monument of history and architecture in St. Petersburg, which is home to the Cathedral of SS Peter and Paul. Also visit the State Hermitage Museum, which houses works by Rafael, Leonardo da Vinci and Picasso. B L
DAY 4 PETERHOF & ST. ISAAC'S CATHEDRAL
Visit Peterhof, the "Russian Versailles." The world-famous palace, fountain and park ensemble of Peterhof is an outstanding landmark of Russian artistic culture from the 18-19th centuries. Also visit St. Isaac's Cathedral. B L
DAY 5 ST. PETERSBURG TO MOSCOW
Check-out from your hotel and transfer to the airport. Depart St. Petersburg to arrive in Moscow the same day. Transfer to the Hotel Novotel Moscow Centre. B L
DAY 6 MOSCOW CITY TOUR
Visit Red Square, and explore St. Basil's Cathedral. Visit the Grand Kremlin Palace and Armoury Museum, oldest museum in Russia with unique collection of crown jewels. B L
DAY 7 KOLOMENSKOE, ARBAT STREET & METRO
Visit the Kolomenskoe Museum and grounds, the old imperial estate nestled in the steep west bank of the Moscow River. Take a walking and shopping tour along Arbat Street and the Moscow Metro, which is the world's most heavily used metro system. B L
DAY 8 MOSCOW TO YEREVAN
Check-out from your hotel and transfer to the airport. Depart Moscow to arrive in Yerevan by early afternoon. Check-in to your hotel. B
DAY 9 GARNI & GEGHART
Excursion to Garni, the only pagan temple in Armenia, and the incredible Christian Monastery of Geghart, partly carved out of solid rock between 11-13th centuries. Experience traditional lavash making ceremony in Garni village. B L
DAY 10 YEREVAN CITY TOUR
Your city tour includes a visit to the Erebouni Museum, the statue of David of Sassoun, Matenadaran, St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, and the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Monument and Museum. B
DAY 11 KHOR VIRAP & NORAVANK
Visit the historic Khor Virap Monastery, the site where St. Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned. From here admire the breathtaking view of Biblical Mt. Ararat. Follow the trip to the Province of Vayots Dzor and visit Noravank Monastery. On your return, enjoy Armenian wine at the Areni village winery. B L
DAY 12 TSAGHKADZOR, SEVAN & DILIJAN
Visit the resort town of Tsaghkadzor, a winter paradise and tourist destination year round. Continue your journey to Lake Sevan. Climb up Sevan peninsula and see ‘Sevanavank' atop the mountain. The excursion follows into Dilijan, where you will visit Haghartsin Monastery. B L
DAY 13 YERABLUR, VICTORY PARK & SHOPPING
Visit Yerablur, Three-Hills Memorial devoted to the heroes of the Karabagh war, and Victory Park. See the statue of Mother Armenia and Cascade. Enjoy shopping at Vernisage. Visit Armen Carpet rug factory, Grand Candy and the Tashir Mall. B
DAY 14 ETCHMIADZIN & SARTARABAD
Visit the church of the Holy Virgin St. Hripsime . Pilgrimage to Etchmiadzin Cathedral, the first official Christian church in the world, built in 301 A.D. Depart Etchmiadzin to Sartarabad, symbol of Armenian pride and survival. Visit the Monument and the Ethnographic Museum. B
DAY 15 AMBERD & OSHAGAN
Excursion to Amberd Fortress located on the picturesque slope of Mt. Aragats, the highest peak in Armenia. Also see Artashavan and the village of Oshagan, burial site of Mesrob Mashtots near Ashtarak. Farewell dinner & entertainment at a trendy restaurant. B D
