| DAY 2 | ARRIVE IN BARCELONA (2 nights) Welcome to Barcelona! Relax after check-in. Later you might like to explore Spain's most cosmopolitan city. Tonight dine at the hotel. D |
| DAY 3 | BARCELONA - FREE TIME Your expert Local Guide shows you the sights including Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, the Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya and the Gothic cathedral. Then time at leisure.B |
| DAY 4 | BARCELONA - PENISCOLA - VALENCIA Drive through orange groves to Peñiscola and see the ancient castle used in the film ‘El Cid’. Continue through the ‘huertas’ to sunny Valencia, the third largest city in Spain, where your orientation includes the town hall, the Bull Ring, the Towers of Serrano and Cuarte, and the cathedral. | DAY 5 | VALENCIA - GUADIX - GRANADA Travel southwest across the ‘sierras’ to view the cave dwellings at Guadix, many of which resemble small cottages while others are earth mounds with chimneys sticking out. Cross the jagged Mora Pass to Granada. B D |
| DAY 6 | GRANADA - COSTA DEL SOL This morning orientation includes the stunning architecture of the Albaicin quarter. Afterwards, there is time, subject to ticket availability, to visit the magnificent Alhambra Palace and gardens. Arrive later on the famous Costa Del Sol, with time to lounge on the beach and swim in the sparkling Mediterranean. B |
| DAY 7 | COSTA DEL SOL - GIBRALTAR - SEVILLE Enjoy a scenic costal drive past Marbella to La Linea. Cross to the Rock of Gibraltar where you have plenty of time for dutyfree shopping. Then continue through spectacular Andalusian countryside to Seville. After dinner at your hotel tonight you might like to experience a fiery Flamenco show! B D |
| DAY 8 | SEVILLE SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME Seville is a wonderful city teeming with tree-lined streets. Your sightseeing tour with your expert Local Guide includes the cathedral, the Giralda Tower and the pools and fountains of the Maria Luisa Park. Spend the afternoon as you please – your Travel Director will give you advice on all available activities. B |
| DAY 9 | SEVILLE - LISBON (2 nights) Admire the scenery as you drive north past mighty castles and across the border to the Alentejo region of Portugal.B |
| DAY 10 | LISBON SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME See Lisbon's landmarks during your sightseeing tour with your expert Local Guide including the Monument to the Discoveries, the suspension bridge spanning the River Tagus, the Belem Tower and the quaint Alfama district. Later in your free time perhaps take an optional excursion to Cascais and Sintra. Dine tonight at your choice of restaurant in the old quarter featuring traditional Portuguese entertainment. B |
| DAY 11 | LISBON - FATIMA - SALAMANCA Drive through the magnificent Serra d'Aire Mountains stopping at the Shrine at Fatima, site of celebrated religious miracles. Cross the border back into Spain and arrive later in Salamanca where you view Plaza Mayor during your orientation tour. B D |
| DAY 12 | SALAMANCA - MADRID Your journey continues through the Sierra de Guadarrama Mountains to Madrid, Europe's highest capital city. This afternoon perhaps take an optional excursion to the ancient city of Segovia. The city offers a feast of fine restaurants to choose from where you can dine on local and regional treats such as paella and roast suckling pig. B |
| DAY 13 | MADRID SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME Your expert Local Guide shows you all the sights including the Royal Palace, the Puerta del Sol and the Cervantes Memorial in the Plaza de España.
